Does a Breast Lift Mean Smaller Breasts?

Breast lift Chester, New JerseyEverything should be in its place— unless you have been pregnant, breast fed, or recently lost a lot of weight, then your breasts may not exactly be in the place they should be in. And although your breasts may hang lower than they did before you had kids or lost weight, it doesn’t mean they have to stay that way. With a surgical breast lift from Dr. Larry Weinstein, he can lift your breasts to exactly where they should be— leaving you feeling like, once again, everything is back in its place.

One common misconception, however, that many patients have about breast lifts is that you will lose your breast size in the process— which isn’t something many women like to here. So, can you lose your breast size after a breast lift?

A Cup Size

In a study published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, in a group of 20 women over the age of 47 who all had breast lifts, most of them found that after about five years after surgery, they lost a whole bra size. However, that same study also showed that women before surgery likely weren’t wearing the proper bra size because of the excess skin and sagginess of their breasts. In fact, the study concluded that although these women’s bra sizes did shrink, their bras fit better after surgery. In other words, no, your breasts won’t shrink after a breast lift, but your bras will fit better.

If your self-esteem is suffering because your breasts are bigger than they used to be, schedule a breast lift consultation with Dr. Larry Weinstein today at our Chester office: 908-879-2222.
