It’s Arm Season: How a Brachioplasty Can Help

With strapless dresses, tank tops, and off the shoulder shirts being at the forefront of your summer wardrobe, the last thing you want is to feel self-conscious when you are in one of these. But if you have a lot of excess skin and fat on your upper arms, then you may not want even to attempt to get into one of these pieces of clothing this summer. Rather than spending your summer sweating in long sleeves, let us help you gain back your self-esteem with a brachioplasty.

What’s a Brachioplasty?

A brachioplasty or an arm lift is a surgical procedure that’s done under general anesthesia to help patients, like you, get rid of excess unwanted fat and skin. If you feel like no matter how hard you diet and workout that you still have excess fat on your upper arms, then a brachioplasty may be the perfect solution for you.

What Is Surgery Like?

During this surgical procedure, Dr. Weinstein will start by making a long incision on the incise of the arm that extends to the elbow. He will then remove excess fat with liposuction, trim excess skin off, tighten supportive tissue, and stitch you back up with absorbable sutures.

What Is Recovery Like?

After surgery, you will be sent into a room to be monitored while your anesthesia wears off. Then, once you go home, we tell all of our patients to keep their compression sleeves on. Although these compression sleeves aren’t the most fashionable thing you have ever worn, they are great at getting rid of pain and swelling at the same time. We also tell our patients to avoid any heavy lifting or strenuous activities for a few weeks after surgery or until Dr. Weinstein gives you the go ahead.

You should feel sexy in your skin and body at all times, but especially in the summer. If you want to learn more about getting a brachioplasty, we are here to help. Contact us at our Chester office and call 908. 879.2222.908-879-2222.

When You Don’t Want It to Wave Back: What to Know About A Brachioplasty

Brachioplasty Chester, NJIf you’re practicing your Miss America wave, but have noticed that your arm fat is waving back, then it may be time to take matters into your own hands (or rather, into Dr. Larry Weinstein’s hands). With a brachioplasty, we can perform a combination of liposuction and a lift to help you get rid of excess, unwanted fat and skin on your upper arms. But what is there to know about the actual procedure itself? Let’s take a closer look.

What Is the Procedure Like?

When you come in for surgery, we will prep you, sedate you, and then bring you into the surgical room. During an arm liposuction procedure, we will make a tiny incision in the targeted area. Once the incision has been made, a thin cannula will be inserted into the area. Here at our office, we offer three different types of liposuction to help get rid of arm fat.

  • Traditional liposuction: During this type of liposuction, we will scrape off the fat and then suction it out with the cannula. The only problem with traditional liposuction is that it’s usually used to treat larger areas which make our other options sometimes more suitable.
  • Tumescent Liposuction: With tumescent liposuction, Dr. Weinstein will inject an anesthetic into the tissue beforehand which results in less swelling and bruising afterward.
  • Ultrasound and Laser Liposuction: Both of these forms of liposuction liquefy the fat rather than scrape it. And because they use a small cannula, they are typically less invasive than the other forms of liposuction.
  • Once the cannulas have been removed, we will then use sutures to stitch up the incision site and you will be sent to recover for 1-2 hours. Afterward, you will be sent home to heal and rest at home.

Going through any sort of surgical procedure can be a little unnerving if you’ve never done it before. However, if you decide to undergo a brachioplasty, we will be there to help talk you through the procedure and guide you through the recovery process. If you want to learn more about this procedure, contact our Chester office today and give us a call at 908-879-2222.
