3 Things You Never Knew About Fillers

Facial Fillers Chester NJBefore Kylie Jenner came out in public sporting a new set of lips, you may not have been that familiar with lip fillers. As one of the most popular non- invasive procedures out there, fillers can be used for a variety of different things including adding volume to your lips and cheeks and helping soften the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. However, unless you’ve had fillers, you may not know much about them. Let’s take a closer look at three things you may not know about fillers.

Location Changes As You Age

As you age, your skin starts to lose collagen and elastin which can lead to sagginess, fine lines, and wrinkles. When this happens, Dr. Larry Weinstein will have to be a little more strategic when injecting fillers into your skin to really help both fill in fine lines and wrinkles and add more volume to certain parts of the skin. So, even though he can inject most 20-year-olds one way, if you are in your 50’s, he will have to use a few different techniques to help give you the best results.

Everybody Is Different

Just like with any procedure that Dr. Larry Weinstein does, it’s important to remember that everybody is different. And because everybody is different, that means that the type of filler we use on you, may not be good to use on your friend. It also means that everyone will get slightly different results including how long your fillers last for; for some patients, their fillers will last an entire year whereas others will need to have touch ups done a lot sooner.

They’re Not the Same As Botox

One thing that you may be surprised to learn is that Botox is not a filler, but it’s an injectable. Fillers work to actually fill in fine lines and wrinkles, whereas Botox works on a deeper level to stop your facial muscles from contracting which helps to soften them in the process.

Now that you know a little bit more about fillers, it’s time to schedule your consultation with Dr. Larry Weinstein at our Chester office today. Call us at 908-879-2222.

Why Is Physical Therapy So Important After Hand Surgery?

Hand Surgery Morristown. NJ“Doctor’s orders” is a phrase that everyone is a little too familiar with, but just because Dr. Weinstein tells you to do so something, should you do it? If you have to undergo hand surgery from Dr. Larry Weinstein, he may recommend that you go to physical therapy as part of your recovery plan. So, why is rehabilitation so important and why should you take Dr. Weinstein’s word for it? Let’s take a closer look.

Get Back What You Started With

Your hand is composed of so many intricate nerves, tendons, bones, and muscles that it makes hand surgery very complex. As such, physical therapy can help your hand gain back the functionality, range of motion, and movement that you need to get the most out of your surgical results. Basically, physical therapy can help you get back what you started with before you were injured.

Take Some Techniques Home

One of the biggest reasons that you should go to physical therapy after hand surgery is to learn how to do certain hand exercises and techniques at home. Once your physical therapist teaches you a new hand exercise or stretch, it’s your responsibility to practice it every day at home in order to get the best results possible.

It Speeds Up Recovery

A speedy recovery is what everyone hopes for after hand surgery. One of the best ways to make sure your recovery goes as quickly and smoothly as possible is to go to physical therapy as often as recommended.

If Dr. Weinstein encourages you to go to physical therapy as part of your recovery, it’s in your best interest to do so. To learn more about hand surgery in general or to schedule a consultation, contact our Chester office today and call us at 908-879-2222.

Is a Liquid Facelift Actually Worth It?

Facial Fillers Chester NJWhen you start to notice signs of aging like fine lines, wrinkles, and a loss of collagen and volume in your skin, it can seem like it’s all you think about. And although there are small fixes that we can make, you may want to consider a liquid facelift. But because liquid facelifts are temporary, it has a lot of people wondering if they’re worth it. Let’s take a closer look.

It Doesn’t Require Surgery

A lot of patients choose to undergo a liquid facelift instead of a traditional one because it doesn’t require any surgery or downtime. And, if you live a busy life and have a full schedule, the last thing you have time to do is lay in bed for a couple of weeks. With a liquid facelift, you can come into our office on your lunch break and then go right back to work.

It Works

If it’s results you are looking for, then you can get them with a liquid facelift. Depending on how severe your fine lines and wrinkles are will help us determine just how good of results you will get. But, Dr. Larry Weinstein will ensure that you get the best results possible. Even if it means that you have to come back in for a few touch-ups.

It’s Affordable

Although Botox and fillers aren’t exactly cheap, they are a lot more affordable than a surgical facelift. Plus, depending on how much you get and what types of fillers you get, a liquid facelift can last the upwards of a year which means that you don’t have to spend too much money very often.

Having a more youthful looking complexion doesn’t always require surgery. If you want to learn more about a liquid facelift and whether or not it’s right for you, schedule a consultation with Dr. Larry Weinstein at our Chester office today and call us at 908-879-2222.

How to Prepare for Tissue Expansion

Breast Augmentation Chester NJWhen it comes to breast augmentation or breast reconstruction surgery, there is one step in the procedure that many women are unfamiliar with: tissue expansion. Tissue expansion is a surgical procedure that is used to help expand the skin before a surgery. For instance, if you have just undergone a mastectomy, you may not have enough skin for a breast augmentation software. A tissue expansion surgery helps slowly expand your skin to make room for the implant so that there aren’t stretch marks.

Typically for this surgery, we use a silicone balloon expander and insert it under your skin near the area that needs to be repaired. Gradually and over time, we will fill the balloon with saline or carbon dioxide to help the skin stretch and grow. And although Dr. Larry Weinstein will perform this surgical procedure, there are a few things that you can do to prepare.

Stop Smoking

If you smoke, Dr. Larry Weinstein will probably encourage you to quit at least a few weeks before your surgery. Smoking slows down your body’s ability to heal quickly and fight off infection after surgery.

Fast Beforehand

Depending on the type of anesthesia that Dr. Weinstein uses during this procedure will help us determine whether or not you need to fast beforehand. Typically, we will ask patients to fast for about 12 hours before surgery if we use general anesthesia but we will give you detailed instructions before.

Arrange for a Ride

Because you will be sedated during your surgery, you won’t be able to drive afterward. Please arrange for a ride home from your surgery or ask us to call you a ride service— that way you can get home safely after surgery.

If you need to undergo a tissue expansion surgery as part of your surgical procedure, you know you’re in good hands with Dr. Larry Weinstein. To learn more about this surgery or to schedule a consultation, call our Chester office today at 908.879.2222.

3 Ways To Spoil The Dad In Your Life This Father’s Day

Male Breast Reduction Morristown, NJIf you got spoiled on Mother’s Day, then you know that you have to go big for the father in your life. Whether you’re looking to gift your own dad or the father of your children something unique this Father’s Day, we have got you covered.  Rather than gifting the same old golf shirt or tie this year, try something new like a procedure from Dr. Larry Weinstein.

Gynecomastia Surgery

The last thing you want to say to the father in your life is, “Hey, did you know have man boobs?” But man boobs may actually be due to a medical condition called gynecomastia. Gynecomastia is a hormonal condition that causes men to form breast tissue and affects around 65% of adult men at some point in their lives. During gynecomastia surgery, Dr. Larry Weinstein will remove excess tissue, tighten any skin, and reposition the nipples if needed— leaving the patient with a more masculine appearance.

Botox

Although Botox has primarily been popular amongst middle-aged women, it is gaining more and more popularity among men of all ages as well. If your loved one has started to complain about the fine lines and wrinkles around their eyes and forehead, why not gift them with a Botox treatment from Dr. Larry Weinstein?

Fillers

One of the things that men often complain about when they start to age is having fine lines and wrinkles around their lips or beard line. With dermal fillers, Dr. Larry Weinstein can temporarily fill in these lines to give your loved one a smoother, more youthful looking appearance.

The best way to gift one of these procedures to the father in your life is to schedule a consultation for them and then pay for the service afterward. If you want to learn more about procedures for men, schedule a consultation with Dr. Larry Weinstein at our Chester office and call us today at 908-879-2222.

Let’s Fill You In On Fillers

Fillers Morristown, NJWhen it comes to the world of injections, all of them are created equal, right? Luckily for you, that’s not the case. In fact, there are two main types of injections that we offer here at Dr. Larry Weinstein’s office: neurotoxins (Botox and Dysport) and fillers. Neurotoxins work by temporarily relaxing your facial muscles whereas fillers work by temporarily filling in fine lines and wrinkles. Let’s take a closer look at the three types of fillers that we offer at our office and what they are best used for.

Juvederm, Belotero, and Voluma

These three fillers are made from a substance called hyaluronic acid which is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin. As you age, however, your body produces less hyaluronic acid which contributes to fine lines, wrinkles, and a loss of volume in your skin. With Juvederm, Belotero, and Voluma injections, however, we can help fill in fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth to help reduce wrinkles and soften deep folds. Additionally, Juvederm and Belotero can be used to help add more volume and contour to the lips.

Restylane

Restylane is also made from hyaluronic acid but is mostly used to add more volume to the face— specifically the cheeks. It can also be used, however, to treat fine lines and wrinkles as well.

Radiesse

Unlike the fillers that we have already discussed in this article, Radiesse isn’t made of hyaluronic acid. In fact, it’s made of Calcium Hydroxylapatite. Once it is injected into the skin, it helps restore volume and decrease fine lines and wrinkles. After it has worn off, Radiesse encourages your skin’s natural production of collagen so that it lasts a little longer.

All of these fillers that we offer at our office are a great and temporary way to soften fine lines and wrinkles and add more volume to your face. If you are interested in learning more about dermal fillers, schedule a consultation with Dr. Larry Weinstein at our Chester office today and call: 908-879-2222.
