How to Speed Up Your Breast Augmentation Recovery

Breast Augmentation Chester, New JerseyHaving a small waist and a small amount of debt are two things you may want to have small of, but having small breasts likely doesn’t make a list. If you have been considering getting a breast augmentation from Dr. Larry Weinstein, you can rest assured that you’ll be in good hands from the consultation appointment all the way through recovery. To help you speed up your recovery time, we have created a brief guide. Read on to learn more.

Take It Easy

One of the best things you can do to speed up the recovery time for your breast augmentation is to take it easy. Remember that the more rest your body gets, the faster it will recover from surgery. Even though you may want to get back into the swing of things right away, it could only slow down your recovery time and even expose you to infection. We encourage our patients to take solid 3-5 days off of work, exercise, and any other tasks. If you have been wanting some time to yourself or to do nothing, here is your opportunity.

Change the Bandages

When you are sent home from your surgery, we will send you with a detailed recovery packet listing how to do things like changing your bandages. Changing out your bandages and washing the incision site are two great ways to protect yourself against harmful bacteria and infection. Remember to always change out your bandages with clean hands and to wash the area with warm water and soap.

Massage the Breasts

Even though it may be a bit painful at first, massaging your breasts while you’re in recovery will help prevent any scar tissue building up. To correctly massage your breasts, try to pull the implant away from your existing breast tissue and then gently massage the breast. Repeat 2-3 times per day.

Recovery is one of the most crucial steps of any surgery— especially a breast augmentation. If you would like to learn more about recovery or to schedule a consultation appointment, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein’s office today!

How to Deal With Post-Op Itching

body procedures Chester, New JerseyWhether you are having a scar revision surgery, liposuction, or a breast augmentation, one of the hardest parts about any of these procedures is the recovery. Not only will you be encouraged to lay in bed for a few days, but you won’t be able to get back into your normal workout routine for at least another week or two. And although those things can put a damper on your lifestyle, nothing is quite as bad is having to deal with post-op itching. To make sure that you don’t get a bacterial infection while healing, this article will list a few ways to deal with the itchiness. Read on to learn more.

Don’t Scratch Around the Stitches

You know not to scratch the stitches themselves (because they can pop open) but you may think that as long as you’re not touching the stitches, you’re okay. However, by even scratching near your stitches, you are putting yourself at risk of a bacterial infection. Because your fingernails are known to harbor germs and bacteria, using them to scratch the area can cause an infection.

Use Lotion

You can use a topical ointment like Benadryl or Calamine lotion around your stitches and the incision site. However, you don’t want to put the cream on the stitches or incision site themselves. After about one week, you can put the Benadryl or Calamine directly onto the incision site without having to worry about it interfering with the healing process.

Keep It Clean

The cleaner your incision site is, the faster it will heal, and you can get rid of the itchiness. Depending on the type of surgery you had done, consult the pamphlet that we sent you home with regarding how to clean it. As a good rule of thumb, use clean hands, soap, and lukewarm water.

Recovering from surgery can be difficult— especially when you are dealing with itchy skin. By using the tips above, you can hopefully find comfort and relief from your itchiness in no time. To learn more about recovery or to schedule a consultation, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein today!

3 Myths About Mommy Makeovers Debunked

Mommy Makeover New JerseyIf you are a mom, you know that even though it can be challenging, motherhood is one of the most rewarding things you get to experience as a woman. However, motherhood also means that your body has likely been through it all— including the stretching, weight gain, weight loss, and breast deflation after breastfeeding. Luckily, Dr. Larry Weinstein offers patients a combination of surgical procedures to help you get your pre-pregnancy body back. These procedures include a breast lift, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction, breast reduction, and facial rejuvenation. To help you better understand the ins and outs of this procedure, we have created an article debunking three common myths associated with a mommy makeover. Read on to learn more.

Myth 1: You Have to Show Your Mom Card

Even though mommy makeovers are primarily popular amongst moms, you certainly don’t have to be a mom yourself to undergo this type of surgery. In fact, some of the best candidates for these combinations of procedures are patients who have recently lost a lot of weight. So, if you don’t have children yourself, you can still be an excellent candidate for this surgery.

Myth 2: You’ll Have Plenty of Scars to Show for It

Luckily, with the advancement of technology and with Dr. Larry Weinstein’s keen eye for detail, you won’t have to worry about having huge, visible scars to conceal after your mommy makeover. In fact, scars from liposuction, a tummy tuck, and a breast augmentation can all be concealed with a bra and underwear itself— meaning that you can jump into a bikini next summer without having any scars to show for it.

Myth 3: More Surgeries Means It’s Painful

One of the biggest reasons why we encourage our patients to get a mommy makeover is that it reduces the amount of pain you experience and the recovery time you have to go through. By doing multiple procedures at once, you will get to experience the recovery of just one procedure.

If you would like to learn more about mommy makeovers and whether or not you’re a good candidate, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein today to schedule a consultation.

3 Ways to Accentuate Your New Curves This Summer

Body Procedures New JerseyOne of the many benefits of getting surgeries like liposuction or a breast augmentation from Dr. Larry Weinstein is that you’ll get to show it all off with confidence. However, to help boost your appearance, even more, we have created a brief guide listing ways that you can take it one step further to accentuate your new curves. From using self-tan to wearing clothes that hug you in all the right places, this article will give you a few tips to use. Read on to learn more.

Self Tanning

Yes, it is true: the tanner you are, the thinner you will look. And because tanning beds are thankfully cancer causing a thing of the past, you may not know how to get a fast tan. Luckily, because the cosmetic industry has upped its game, there are now tanning creams and lotions that can give you an instant tan without looking too orange. As a tip, remember to apply the tanning cream in a circular motion so that you cover every inch of your body— and whatever you do, don’t forget to scrub your hands and fingers afterward.

A Supportive Bra

If you just got a breast augmentation or lift from Dr. Larry Weinstein, one of the best ways that you can show off your new breasts is by wearing a supportive bra. And that doesn’t mean that it has to be super padded. In fact, by getting a bra that has some underwire and a little bit of lining, you can take pressure off of your back while making your breasts more supported.

High Waisted Bikini

If you are planning on really showing off your body this summer, you may want to head to the swimming pool. As one of the most flattering cuts of swimsuits, a high waisted bikini will allow you to show off your newly tightened tummy while not revealing too much.

Whether you just got a tummy tuck, liposuction, or some breast surgery, it’s nice to be able to show off your body with confidence. Use these tips to take your confidence up a notch this summer. To learn more about these and other surgical procedures, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein today!

3 Things to Consider When Getting a Breast Augmentation

Breast AugmentationBeing called “flat chested” isn’t exactly a term that most girls like to be known for. However, if you fall into this category and are wanting to make a change, consider getting a breast augmentation done by Dr. Larry Weinstein. During this surgery, Dr. Weinstein will surgically place implants under or on top of your existing breast muscles to give you a more prominent look. During this surgery, however, you do have a few options to consider getting done in conjunction with a breast augmentation. Read on to learn more.

Tissue Expansion

If you are particularly petite, then Dr. Larry Weinstein may recommend that we do a tissue expansion surgery before your breast augmentation. This procedure is done to help loosen and expand the skin around the breasts so that the implants will be sufficiently covered. By placing a small balloon in your breasts and slowly inflating it over a few months, your skin tissue will expand— leaving you with fewer stretchmarks and more coverage over your implants.

Breast Lift

This type of surgery can be done at the same time as your augmentation. If you have noticed that your breasts don’t sit as high on your chest as they used to, Dr. Larry Weinstein can perform a breast lift to lift and tighten them. By getting rid of excess skin and lifting your breasts higher, you will look more youthful.

Nipple Reduction

If you have large, droopy, or long nipples that make you feel extremely self-conscious, Dr. Larry Weinstein may be able to perform a “nipple reduction surgery” at the same time as your augmentation. During this surgery, your nipple will be cut, so that is decreased in size and shape.

Before you get a breast augmentation done, it’s nice to know that you have a few other surgeries you can do in conjunction with it. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein today!

2 Things to Look for When Choosing a Surgeon

Whether you’re getting fillers or a facelift, you have a variety of decisions to make— including what type of procedure to go with, the results you want, and most importantly, what surgeon you are going to choose. Even though websites offering coupons or group deals to for cosmetic surgery procedures may sound appealing, unless they are being administered by a board certified surgeon like Dr. Larry Weinstein, you run a huge risk. So, how can you ensure that you are going with a surgeon you can trust? Read on to learn more.

Board Certification

The best thing you can look for when choosing a surgeon is to find one that is board certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. Board certification means that the doctor:

  • Sticks to a strict code of ethics.
  • Has completed five years of surgical training with a minimum of two years in just plastic surgery.
  • Only operates in approved and accredited hospitals and clinics.
  • Maintains standards and patient safety innovations while fulfilling continuing medical education requirements.
  • Is trained and has experienced in all plastic surgery procedures.

Look At Reviews

In this day and age, it can be almost foolish not to use the Internet to research the surgeon you are going with. Most websites offer the ability to look at reviews of the surgeon you are interested in. If the surgeon has mediocre or negative reviews, make sure to cancel your appointment with them and schedule one with a surgeon who has positive reviews.

If you are looking for a surgeon you can trust, look no further than Dr. Larry Weinstein himself. Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and with years of experience performing procedures like breast implants, rhinoplasties, abdominoplasties, and more, you know that you are in the best of hands.
