8+ Things You Should Know About Botox

young smiling pretty woman having botox rejuvenation procedure of cheek zoneYou probably know at least one friend or coworker who has had Botox, and they probably love what it has done for them. Have you been considering Botox? If you’ve been thinking about Botox, you may have some questions. Here are some Botox facts!

What you need to know about Botox

1. Botox works by blocking signals between the nerves and the muscles, which keeps muscles from contracting and relaxes and smooths out wrinkles.

2. It is a neurotoxin, which sounds like a bad thing to inject into your body. However, it is very safe when it is used correctly, has been used in cosmetic procedures for decades, and has been used successfully with millions of patients.

3. It is used to reduce the appearance of lines around the mouth, frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. However, it has medical uses, too. It is used to treat neck spasms, lazy eye, chronic migraines, and overactive bladder.

4. The procedure to get Botox is noninvasive, nonsurgical, and quick. It is done in the doctor’s office and there is no downtime afterwards, although you should avoid strenuous activity such as a trip to the gym.

5. Most patients say that there is very little pain – just a bit of a pinch. You may be bruised a bit afterward, but this will fade within a few days.

6. The effects of Botox can last as long as 6 months, although it may take a couple of weeks to really see these effects. After your Botox has worn off, it is safe to get more injections.

7. Botox can be combined with other procedures, depending on the results you would like to see. Your doctor can help you decide which other procedures are right for you.

8. Botox is a great way to reduce wrinkles and get younger, smoother-looking skin if you have tried at-home creams with no results, but you aren’t quite ready yet for a surgical procedure such as a face lift.

If you have been considering Botox, why wait anymore? Call the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center in Chester, New Jersey, at (908) 879-2222 for an appointment today!

Facial Procedures for Men

confident handsome guy touching with shaved flawless clean soft skin after morning shavingPlastic surgery is all about looking good and giving people the confidence they need and deserve to have. And it’s not just for women – men want to look good and feel confident, too! At the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center, men have a variety of procedures to choose from to help them look and feel their best.

Brow lift

You may not even realize how your brow can affect the rest of your face. Lines and saggy skin can make you look older than you are and perpetually angry or worried. With a brow lift, excess skin is removed and the remaining skin is tightened for very youthful results.

Neck lift

The neck is another area that is often ignored when people are considering a plastic surgery procedure, but, like the brow, how the neck looks can really make a difference to the rest of the face. If the neck has excess fat, it can cause unsightly “turkey wattles.” During a neck lift, excess skin and fat are removed and the neck muscles are lifted to get rid of wattles and give you a smooth, younger-looking neck.

Eyelid surgery

Excess skin and fat around the eyes can make your eyes look puffy, tired, and old. Eyelid surgery gets rid of that excess tissue to make eyes look younger, brighter, and more alert. It can also be done for medical reasons – too much skin around the eyes can reduce your field of vision, which is not only annoying but can be dangerous.

Facelift

More and more men are opting for this procedure because it comes with dramatic results. It removes wrinkles and tightens sagging tissue, leaving you with refreshed, toned, and younger-looking skin. A facelift is also the perfect time to get other things done, such as a brow lift, ear surgery to reshape the ears or make them smaller, or eyelid surgery.

There is nothing wrong with wanting to look younger and feel your best. More and more, men are deciding to have plastic surgery and are loving the results they see. Contact Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center in Chester, New Jersey, to discuss your plastic surgery options. Call (908) 879-2222 for an appointment today!

Start the Year Off Right With a Cosmetic Surgery Procedure

plastic surgeon touching face of attractive woman with marked faceYou may have started off the new year by not only looking back on the past 12 months but also making plans for the upcoming 12 months. Maybe you’ve decided that this is the year you are finally going to go for it and get that cosmetic surgery procedure you’ve been wanting. Here are 3 reasons why you shouldn’t put it off anymore – this is the year!

3 reasons you should get that procedure done

Why have you been considering a cosmetic surgery procedure? Everyone has their own reasons, which might include:

1. Health reasons. Plastic surgeons can do more than just make cosmetic changes – they can also perform procedures that keep you healthy and safe. This can include a nose job to help you breathe and sleep better or eyelid surgery to make sure that your vision isn’t impeded.

2. You haven’t seen the results you were trying to get. If you’ve spent months and months (or years and years) working out and watching your diet but still aren’t seeing the toned, contoured body you’ve always wanted, cosmetic surgery can help to get rid of stubborn, excess fat that you just can’t get rid of.

3. You are tired of being self-conscious. Everyone has something about their body they would change – is there something that you are always trying to hide? You don’t have to feel that way anymore. A cosmetic surgery procedure can help you to get rid of that constant feeling of self-consciousness and give you the body and the confidence you deserve to have.

Are you still having doubts about surgery? Don’t worry – you can still make changes. Maybe you’re not ready for a surgical procedure, but you can still take care of wrinkles, lines, and aging skin. There are a variety of injectables and other treatments available to treat any issue you may have – and these are nonsurgical with little (or no) downtime needed.

Why have you been thinking about plastic surgery? Whatever your reasons, if you have decided this is the year you’re going to do it, contact the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center in Chester, New Jersey. Call (908) 879-2222 for an appointment today!

Is otoplasty right for you?

beautiful young woman pointing finger to her earOtoplasty (also known as “ear reshaping surgery”) is a cosmetic surgery procedure that can change the size or the shape of the ears or can “pin” the ears back. If your ears have always made you feel self-conscious, otoplasty can help!

Who should have ear reshaping surgery?

Ear reshaping can be done at any age, but for children it is typically done after the age of 3, when the ears are mostly grown. It can help ears that stick out too far and ears that are too large. Patients who have had some sort of trauma to the ears, such as cancer or an injury, or patients who were born with a birth defect may also benefit.

What is the procedure for otoplasty?

The procedure is performed with general anesthesia, is an outpatient procedure, and it typically takes less than 3 hours. Most patients are up and about within a few hours after the surgery, but strenuous activity should be avoided for a few weeks – adults should plan on missing 5 days of work and children will miss 7 days of school. Stitches will dissolve or can be removed in about a week, and because the incision is made on the back of the ear, any scarring will be hidden and will fade over time.

Most patients report there is little pain, which can be controlled with over-the-counter medication. You will have to wear bandages after the surgery and then later a lighter head dressing. There will also be some bruising and swelling, but once this reduces you will notice a change in your ears right away. There is a very low risk of complications with this procedure, and it won’t affect hearing.

When considering otoplasty, as with all other types of cosmetic procedures, it is important that you are in good health and that you have realistic expectations about your results.

With an otoplasty procedure, you won’t have to be self-conscious about your ears anymore! No more hiding them underneath your hair or a hat. Call Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center in Chester, New Jersey, for an otoplasty consultation today. Call (908) 879-2222 for an appointment!

6 Reasons Why You Should Plan on Breast Augmentation in the New Year

Cropped half-turned closeup photo woman's breast dressed in white braIt is already that time of year again! Time to start thinking about all you’ve accomplished in the past year and time to start planning for the new one. If you’ve been considering breast augmentation, there’s no better time to really put your plans into action. Read on for 6 reasons why now is the time to plan your breast augmentation surgery!

Why get breast augmentation?

Every woman has her own reasons for breast augmentation, but here are 6 good ones you should consider:

1. Breast augmentation can really increase your level of self-confidence. Has your chest always been the one part of your body that you are insecure about? Has it always made you feel self-conscious? Have you dreaded wearing a swimsuit or a cute summer dress? Breast augmentation can finally put you at ease about the way you look.

2. Breast augmentation can help you have the body you want after weight loss. An unfortunate fact about weight loss is that the breasts lose fullness when you lose weight. With breast augmentation, you can have the best of both worlds: you can be at your ideal weight while still having the full chest you would like.

3. Breast augmentation surgery recovery is relatively quick. Your downtime will most likely be only about 1 to 2 weeks, and you can get back to strenuous activity after 4 to 6 weeks.

4. Breast implants are long-lasting. Most last for about 15 years, but some can last for a lifetime.

5. Breast augmentation is done with the latest in technology, so you don’t have to wonder what the results will be. You’ll be able to see what you’ll look like with different sizes of implants with Vectra three-dimensional imaging.

6. Breast procedures are very safe. Every procedure does carry some risk, but in general breast implants have very few adverse effects and risks of complications.

Have you waited long enough to have breast augmentation? You can make this next year the year it happens – start by calling Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center in Chester, New Jersey, for a breast augmentation consultation. Call (908) 879-2222 today!

Did you know the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center can help with hand pain?

A woman feel pain in the middle of the handIf you’ve ever had a cosmetic procedure done at Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center, you know you can trust Dr. Weinstein and his staff to give you the beautiful skin, face, and body that you’ve always wanted. But did you know that you can also count on Dr. Weinstein for help with painful hand conditions?

What hand conditions can be treated?

Your plastic surgeon can help with many different hand problems. Here are just a few:

• Carpal tunnel syndrome. The carpal tunnel is on the palm side of the hand. The median nerve runs through this “tunnel,” and if it is too narrow it can compress the nerve. Patients with carpal tunnel syndrome may have tingling or numbness. Surgery can help to relieve the pressure on the median nerve.

• Rheumatoid arthritis. This is a chronic disease that results in painful and inflamed joints. Joints may also be swollen and stiff. Surgery to remove tissue from inflamed joints, repositioning tendons, or even implanting artificial joints can help patients to find relief.

• Dupuytren’s contracture. Surgery is the only treatment for this disorder in which the skin and tissue on the palm side of the hand develop scar-like tissue that makes it difficult for the hand to move and function normally. After surgery, the fingers and hand can move more freely.

What happens after hand surgery?

Every hand surgery is different, and so the recovery time involved can vary from patient to patient. Your hand will have to remain immobilized for some time and you will need time to heal before you can get back to your regular activities. Besides medication to help you feel more comfortable while you heal, you might also be prescribed therapy such as hand exercises, heat and massage therapy, splinting, traction, and/or electrical nerve stimulation.

You don’t realize how delicate the hand is and how important good hand function is until you develop a problem. Don’t worry, though – you can count on Dr. Weinstein and the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center in Chester, New Jersey, to relieve hand pain and help to restore hand function.
