How to Make Lips Even More Kissable

Outdoor fashion photo of beautiful young woman surrounded by flowersNo doubt the special person in your life finds your lips not just kissable but irresistible. However, even if your loved one loves your lips, that doesn’t mean that you do. Maybe you’ve always thought they were too thin, and you’ve always wished for full, luscious lips. Or maybe you aren’t happy with the wrinkles and lines that you’ve noticed around your mouth lately. The good news is that you have a few different options to get the lips you want!

Dermal fillers for amazing lips

Your doctor can help you decide which filler is right for you, and you have a few to choose from:

• Restylane® is one option. It is made of hyaluronic acid, which is a substance found naturally in the body. Restylane injections help to boost collagen production, which helps to restore volume to the skin while also making it look younger and refreshed. Restylane can be used to add volume and fullness to the lips, and it can also be used to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles around the lips.

• RADIESSE® is made of calcium hydroxylapatite, which also stimulates collagen production. It reduces wrinkles and can also add volume to the skin.

• JUVÉDERM® contains hyaluronic acid, and it is used to smooth out wrinkles, such as laugh lines around the mouth.

Besides giving your lips a whole new look, fillers have other benefits as well. They only involve injections – there is no invasive surgery to deal with. The effects can last up to a year, and it is possible that you’ll notice a difference as soon as you leave your doctor’s office. The procedure for dermal fillers is quick – typically it takes less than half an hour – and any possible side effects are usually not serious and go away on their own. And, you may be able to combine the filler you choose with another product such as Botox to get the results you want.

Dermal fillers can help to give you the lips you’ve dreamed of. Contact the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center to discuss which filler might be right for you. Call the office in Chester, New Jersey, at (908) 879-2222, for an appointment today!

Deciding on the Right Breast Size for Your Breast Augmentation

Have you always wished you had a bigger chest? When it comes time to discussing the actual breast augmentation procedure with your doctor, you’ll need to have a more specific idea of what “bigger” means to you. What size of an implant do you really want, and how do you decide what would look best?

Choosing the right size implant

The first thing to keep in mind, when you decide to have a breast augmentation procedure and when trying to decide what size you would like, is that it is your decision and no one else’s – you should be doing this for you and no one else!

Here are some tips that might help you decide what size is right for you:

1. Dr. Weinstein and his staff are here to help. After years of doing breast augmentation surgeries, they have a pretty good idea of what size implants might be right for your body type and which might be too large. You’ll also be able to try out different sizes and shapes of implants in the office by placing them under a tight fitting sport bra. The final decision is, of course, yours, but taking advantage of their expertise is a great place to start.

2. Think about what you hope to achieve. Maybe you are concerned that your breasts have lost elasticity and shape. If this is the case, you might not want implants at all – a breast lift may address your concerns. This is why it is important to determine what outcome you hope to achieve with a breast procedure and to discuss this with your doctor.

3. Take advantage of technology. The Vectra 3D imaging system, available at Dr. Weinstein’s office, uses pictures of you to create images of what you may look like after surgery. You’ll be able to easily see what you’d look like with different sizes of implants.

The staff at the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center has the expertise to help you when you are trying to make the right decision about your breast augmentation procedure. Call the office in Chester, New Jersey, at (908) 879-2222, for a consultation today!

Emotional Health After Plastic Surgery

You have been dreaming of that plastic surgery procedure for years, and you finally had it done. You thought you’d be ecstatic, and everything would be perfect from now on – so why are you feeling a bit sad? It doesn’t make sense, but you should know that feeling depressed after any procedure, even plastic surgery, is normal.

After-surgery depression

When a person has had a major surgery, such as a heart operation, it is very common for them to feel depressed after such a stressful and life-changing event. It is less common for a patient who has had plastic surgery to feel depressed, but it does happen. It could be caused by the body’s reaction to the surgery; after all, any medical procedure is a disruption of the nervous system. Or, maybe your results aren’t what you expected they would be, or maybe the swelling hasn’t gone down yet, and it is hard for you to imagine what you will look like once you are all healed.

It may help just to realize that some unhappiness after any surgical procedure is normal and something many people go through. So what can you do about it?

• Take care of yourself. Have you really taken the time to relax and let your body heal? Are you eating properly and getting exercise (once your doctor has said you can)? Are you getting enough sleep?

• Talk to someone. A support system is always good to have, but especially after a major event like surgery. Let a friend or family member know that you need some extra support at this time.

• Talk to your doctor. If you feel like you aren’t recovering as quickly as you should or you aren’t seeing the results you wanted, ask your doctor if you are on the right track.

• Have realistic expectations. Plastic surgery can do wonders, but you have to be realistic about what the outcome will be.

The staff at the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center wants to make sure you look and feel your best. If you are considering a plastic surgery procedure, or if you have questions about your recovery, call the office in Chester, New Jersey, at (908) 879-2222.

October Is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

This month is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month – a month to show your support for a woman in your life with the disease, a reminder for women to take care of themselves and do all they can to educate themselves about staying healthy, and a time to celebrate survival. If you have had a mastectomy or a lumpectomy, you may be trying to decide what to do next – you should know that breast reconstruction surgery is an option.

What is breast reconstruction?

Every woman is different, as far as how cancer has affected them and what results they would like to see from breast reconstruction. Your doctor will be able to go over your options and the pros and cons of each. Here are some things to think about:

1. You don’t have to decide right away. Cancer and its treatment are overwhelming enough as it is, and you may not want to think about reconstruction right now. But that’s OK. While some women do opt for reconstruction at the time of mastectomy, others wait to decide what (if anything) they want done. It is a procedure that can wait for months or even years.

2. Insurance companies are legally required to pay for breast reconstruction after a mastectomy or a partial mastectomy/lumpectomy.

3. If you are having trouble deciding what to do, it might help to speak with other women who have been in the same situation. Look for a support group in your area or even online.

4. Many women who have had one breast affected opt for plastic surgery on both breasts, so that they will be the same size and shape.

5. Research has shown that breast reconstruction does not make it harder to check for cancer in the future, and it does not increase the odds of getting cancer again.

Dr. Weinstein and the staff at the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center want to be there for you at this stressful time, to answer your questions and address your concerns and to help you decide if breast reconstruction is the right choice for you. Call the office in Chester, New Jersey, for a breast reconstruction consultation, at (908) 879-2222.

Make Sure to Pamper Your Skin After Your Laser Procedure

man in laser safety goggles in spa salonLasers are used for so many things nowadays. In the medical field, they can destroy kidney stones, treat cancer, and correct vision. They can also be used in cosmetic procedures, and although there are so many benefits to having a laser procedure over other procedures, the laser can leave your skin just a bit uncomfortable. Here are some ways to pamper your skin after a laser procedure!

What are lasers used for cosmetically?

Lasers can be used to remove unwanted hair (without the annoyance, hassle, and expense of shaving or waxing), remove unwanted tattoos, and they can even help to give you younger-, smoother-looking skin.

In laser skin rejuvenation, the laser goes deep into the layers of the skin to stimulate the production of collagen (an important protein for beautiful skin) and the generation of new skin cells. It is used to reduce lines and wrinkles, tighten loose skin on the face and neck, and to give skin a refreshed, new look.

Laser treatments are popular because they are noninvasive, safe, and effective. Although it may take more than one treatment to see the results you want, these treatments are done on an outpatient basis and can be done in a short amount of time – just a few minutes or a couple of hours, depending on what you need to have done.

What happens after a laser treatment?

Your skin may be a bit uncomfortable, sensitive, and easily irritated after a laser treatment. You should stay out of the sun, and wear sunscreen if you do have to go outside. Avoid any exfoliants and harsh cleansers that might irritate the skin. Aloe vera can help to reduce inflammation and keep the skin moisturized, which will reduce irritation.

A little bit of pampering is always a good idea, but you should always take extra special care of your skin after any treatment! Whether you need a tattoo or unwanted hair removed or you would like to give your skin a younger, refreshed look, the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center can help, with a laser treatment! Are you considering a buttock lift? Here’s what you need to know!

Sexy buttocks of woman in bikini on sea backgroundIf you wish you had a curvier figure or you aren’t happy because you feel like your buttocks are saggy and flabby, a buttock and outer-thigh lift may be the answer for you! Read on for more information about this procedure!

Is a buttock and outer-thigh lift right for you?

The ideal candidates for this procedure are those who have excess skin and tissue on the thighs and buttocks. You should be in good overall health, a nonsmoker, and you should not be significantly overweight. And, as with any cosmetic procedure, you should have realistic expectations about the outcome of your surgery.

What happens during a buttock and outer-thigh lift?

It is a sad fact of life that as we age, our bodies change. Our buttocks and thighs can start to look saggy, or your buttocks may start to look flat. A buttock and outer-thigh lift can help, by improving the shape and size of the buttocks and thighs and making them look toned and contoured.

These are actually two separate procedures, but they are often performed at the same time because issues with the buttocks and the thighs often overlap (of course, your doctor will discuss your options with you, which will depend on the results you’d like to see). This procedure is done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.

What happens after the procedure?

You may feel bruised, swollen, and sore for up to a month after the procedure. You may be given prescription medication to control any pain. Most patients will go back to work and regular activities about 2 weeks after the surgery, although strenuous activity should be avoided for at least a month. You may be advised to wear compression garments to help with any swelling and to help you heal. The results of your procedure will last for years, unless you have a significant weight gain or loss.

A buttock and outer-thigh lift procedure can help to give you the toned and contoured figure you want! If you would like a consultation to see if this procedure might be right for you, contact the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center! Call the office in Chester, New Jersey, at (908) 879-2222 today!
