What is recovery from a butt lift like?

Have you been considering a buttock lift? This very popular procedure can help you to have the buttocks you want after you have lost a lot of weight or if you’ve always dreamed of having a well-defined and toned derriere but just aren’t seeing the results you’d like after exercising for years. However, it is still a surgical procedure, and there will be some recovery time involved. Read on for what you can expect recovery to be like.

Recovery from your butt lift

Your doctor will, of course, have detailed instructions for you to follow after the procedure, but here are some things to keep in mind:

• You will have to plan on taking time to relax and recover. Take some time off of work, and ask friends and family to help you around the house and run errands.

• Avoid any strenuous exercise for at least 4 weeks. Exercise such as yoga and walking may be all right, although you should check with your doctor to make sure.

• Limit your time sitting. Although this is easier said than done, it is important. You need to avoid putting your weight on your buttocks until the pain and swelling have gone down (and when your doctor gives you the OK to sit again), and even then you should use a soft pillow to sit on. It can take up to a month for the swelling and bruising to subside.

• When you do rest, it is best to lie down. You should sleep on your side or your stomach for the first few weeks after your surgery.

• The surgery is usually an outpatient procedure, although, rarely, patients may need to stay in the hospital overnight.

• Your doctor may recommend that you wear compression garments to help reduce swelling and to make the healing process go faster.
