Liposuction
Have you recently developed a routine exercise regiment as a form of weight loss? Maybe you want to get rid of a set of love-handles, or just trim your waistline in preparation for an upcoming special occasion. Perhaps you’ve even begun eating healthier and dieting, but you’ve simply been unable to reach your weight loss goal. Have you considered liposuction?
Best Candidates
Visit Dr. Weinstein for an initial consultation to decide if liposuction is right for you. The best candidates are in good health, exercise regularly, eat well, and are within 25 pounds of their desired weight. You may have difficulty removing excess weight through diet and exercise and desire permanent weight loss results.
What are the Risks?
As with any medical procedure, there will always be a slight risk. Every one’s body doesn’t physically respond, recover, or heal the same. The most common risks can include an allergic reaction, full thickness skin necrosis, fainting, and hyper-pigmentation at the incision. You may also experience hematoma, or a collection of blood under the skin.
Prior to your surgery, Dr. Weinstein will inform you of the best to avoid side effects and reduce risk.
What Happens in a Consultation?
The initial consultation is a preliminary procedure. Dr. Weinstein will examine the focus areas of your body, skin and bone structure. He’ll also review your medical records for any known illnesses, allergies, and current medications. Any further concerns and questions will also be answered during this time. Always feel free to ask questions at any point before and after your surgery.
Reasons for Liposuction
Liposuction was designed to reduce the accumulation of difficult fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. Liposuction should not be viewed considered an alternative to a healthy diet and exercise routine. Aside from one’s personal goals, the most common reasons for liposuction are:
- Removing neck fat
- Trimming stomach and waistline
- Removing fat from knees and thighs
- Removing excess fat from hips and buttocks
- Trim or remove body fat from your upper arms
- Removing excess body fat from your calves and ankles
Types of Liposuction
Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center practices all forms of liposuction to maximize your results. Our state-of-the-art facility allows us to perform SmartLipoand LASER Lipo. We also practice tickle liposuction that is performed under sedation using a syringe, and ultrasonic liposuction that destroys and removes fat.
Recovery Time
Most patients can recovery within one week, although others have recovered within 2 to 3 days after receiving a very minor liposuction procedure. Swelling begins diminishing between 7 to10 days and moderate workouts can be resumed in approximately 2 weeks. Full recoveries typically range between 4 to 6 weeks.
