How Does Liposuction Work?
Do you sometimes feel like life is way harder than it should be? Like you are doing everything you can but seeing very few results? Take losing weight, for instance – you can live a healthy lifestyle for years, with a good diet and constant exercise, and yet still have fat that you just can’t get rid of. But finally losing that fat may be easier than you think, thanks to liposuction. Read on for some more information about how liposuction works!
How does liposuction get rid of fat?
In liposuction, the fat is literally sucked out of the body through a tube. There are different techniques for liposuction – for instance, in one technique an ultrasonic device is used to break up and destroy fat cells, after which they are removed. The technique used may depend on how much fat the patient has or if this is a second liposuction procedure.
Typically, liposuction can remove inches from the area that is being treated – it can be used on the upper arms, the stomach, the calves, the hips, the buttocks, the thighs, and the neck. The procedure isn’t meant to reduce a lot of fat; it is used to tone and contour areas with stubborn fat that won’t go away on its own.
Patients typically only need one session, although it may need to be spread out over a series of sessions — this can depend on the patient’s overall health. There will be some swelling and bruising after the procedure and discomfort that can be relieved with an over-the-counter pain reliever.
Liposuction is a great solution to help contour the body in all the right places, and the results can be long lasting – but you should make sure to eat a healthy diet and exercise after the procedure so that you can stay healthy and keep that excess fat from coming back.
If you’ve been trying to lose that extra bit of fat for years and it just won’t go away, liposuction may be the answer for you. Contact the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center to discuss liposuction. Call the office in Chester, New Jersey, at (908) 879-2222, for an appointment today!

9+ Things You Should Know About Liposuction
Liposuction has been a very popular procedure for many years. If you’ve been thinking about having liposuction, you probably have some questions – read on for 9+ things you should know about lipo!
What is liposuction and how can it benefit you?
Liposuction is a safe and effective way to get rid of excess fat:
1. Liposuction removes those stubborn bits of fat that just won’t go away no matter how much you diet or exercise. It not only gets rid of fat – it also allows the doctor to give your body contours in all the right places.
2. It can be performed on almost any part of the body, including, of course, the stomach, the hips, the buttocks, and the thighs, but also the upper arms, the neck, and the calves.
3. Liposuction has come a long way since it was first used. Nowadays, there are many different techniques to choose from for liposuction, including SmartLipo, LASER Lipo, Ultrasonic Liposuction, and the Whisperator. Your doctor will help you decide which method is right for you.
4. Liposuction can be done in as little as one session, although it may take several sessions depending on your overall health.
5. Liposuction is not a replacement for diet and exercise! You should strive for a healthy lifestyle before and after the procedure.
6. You should be in good overall health before liposuction.
7. After the procedure you can expect some swelling and bruising. Most patients find relief with an over-the-counter pain medication.
8. It may take a few weeks to really notice the effects of liposuction.
9. If you’ve only had limited liposuction, your recovery should not even affect your daily life. However, if you’ve had more extensive lipo, it is best to plan on missing work for 5 to 10 days after the procedure, and you should not do anything strenuous for 48 hours afterward.
Liposuction is popular for a reason – it is a quick, safe, and effective way to get rid of fat that just won’t go away. Call the Weinstein Plastic Surgery Center in Chester, New Jersey, for a liposuction consultation. Call (908) 879-2222 for an appointment today!

Answering your questions about liposuction
Liposuction is one of the top 10 most common plastic surgery procedures done in the United States each year, and popular among men and women alike. But many people who are interested in liposuction, or liposculpture, still have a lot of questions about the procedure. Here, we take a look at the most common questions.
What areas of the body can be treated by liposuction or liposculpture?
The most common area of the body treated with liposuction is the stomach and waistline since abdominal fat is some of the most resistant to diet and exercise. Other areas include the thighs and knees, hips and buttocks, calves and ankles, upper arms, and even the neck area.
Is liposuction helpful for weight loss?
Liposuction cannot replace proper diet and exercise. It is intended to treat stubborn fat accumulations that aren’t responding to diet and exercise.
Who is an ideal candidate?
Patients who are at or near their ideal weight and have stubborn pockets of fat they want to remove are good candidates. That’s why you don’t want to look at liposuction as a weight-loss solution. You should be in good overall health and have a good outlook and expectations for the outcome.
What can I expect after surgery?
Depending on the areas treated, you can expect to see inches gone from the treatment areas. It may take weeks to see these results as you will have some initial swelling and bruising.
How long is recovery?
You’ll have swelling for about 48 hours after the procedure, which continues to subside. You may only need over-the-counter pain medication to take care of any pain or discomfort. You can result in all activity three weeks after surgery. You’ll have to wear a compression garment for four weeks to help your skin retract after surgery.
How long will results last?
It’s important to follow a healthy diet and proper exercise routine after surgery to maintain and prolong results. If you gain weight, it will be in another area that hasn’t had fat cells removed.
Liposuction can be performed on its own or in combination with other procedures to achieve your desired look. To learn more, schedule a consultation with Dr. Weinstein by calling (908) 879-2222.

7 facts about liposuction
Sometimes excess fat deposits won’t respond to diet and exercise. That’s when liposuction can step in and reshape specific areas of the body by removing that excess fat, improving the body’s contours. Here are seven facts about this popular cosmetic surgery procedure.
Liposuction can address multiple areas at the same time. It’s perfect for removing fat from the neck, thighs, knees, hips and buttocks, calves and ankles, stomach and waistline, and the upper arms.
Liposuction can be performed with other cosmetic surgery procedures. While liposuction can be performed on its own, the most common procedures combined with liposuction include a tummy tuck, breast reduction or facelift.
Candidates for liposuction must meet specific criteria. Good candidates for liposuction include those who are in good physical health and don’t smoke. If you are an adult within 30 percent of your ideal weight and you have firm, elastic skin with good muscle tone, you are considered a good candidate.
Liposuction is not a weight loss solution. Patients should be at or near their ideal weight for liposuction to be effective. It’s also not an effective treatment for cellulite, which is dimpled skin usually found on the thighs, hips, and buttocks.
You should be getting liposuction for you, not because someone else wants you to get it done. Cosmetic surgery is highly individualized, so you shouldn’t be doing it to fit a certain image. If you have a positive outlook and realistic expectations, then you will be a good candidate for surgery.
Liposuction is performed through small incisions designed to be hidden. While you are under anesthesia, diluted local anesthesia is infused to reduce bleeding. A thin, hollow tube is inserted through the incisions to loosen the excess fat deposits with a controlled back-and-forth motion. The surgeon then suctions out loosened fat using a special surgical vacuum or syringe.
Recovery length depends on how much was treated. To help control swelling and hold the skin to your new contours, you will wear a compression garment or bandages over the treatment areas after the procedure. If a small area was treated, you may be able to return to work after a few days, but you may need a couple of weeks of recovery if a large area was treated.
If excess fat deposits aren’t responding to diet and exercise and are bothering you, contact our office today at (908) 879-2222 to schedule a liposuction consultation with Dr. Weinstein.

7 things you need to know about buttock and outer-thigh lifts
Aging, significant weight loss, and even genetics can cause the buttocks and thighs to sag. Often a healthy diet and exercise program can’t tighten, firm and contour this area as well as lift procedures. Here are seven things you should know about buttock and outer-thigh lifts.
Ideal candidates are in good health. You should also avoid smoking and have realistic expectations about outcomes from the procedure.
A buttock lift and outer-thigh lift are often performed together. Although the procedures can be done separately, patients often find the buttocks and thighs have the same issues.
The incisions are made in places that scars can be easily hidden. The buttock lift incision is made across the top of the buttocks from one hip bone to the other, low enough to be concealed by underwear or a bikini. For the outer-thigh lift, the incision is made in the groin area. Though they will be visible, the scars will fade over time.
Liposuction may be performed. During the procedures, excess skin and fat are removed. Support sutures are placed deep within the underlying tissue, while skin is then redraped around the new contours. Incisions are closed with sutures. Patients are usually required to wear compression garments to reduce swelling and speed up the healing process.
The lift procedures are typically performed on an outpatient basis. The lift is done under general anesthesia. Most patients can leave after the effects of the anesthesia have worn off, while some patients may have to stay overnight.
Swelling, soreness and bruising can last for up to a month. This is typical for recovery, but pain can be controlled with medication. Most people can return to work and regular, non-strenuous activities after about two weeks, but must avoid strenuous activities for four weeks or longer.
They are not weight-loss procedures. This is performed only on those who are not significantly overweight. After the procedures, the buttocks and outer thighs have trimmer contours, and the skin is tighter and smoother. Surgical results are long-lasting.
If you want to learn more about buttock and outer-thigh lifts to improve the contour of your lower body and give it a more youthful appearance, call our office at (908) 879-2222 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Weinstein.

3 Ways to Speed Up Your Arm Lipo Recovery
Having loose fat on you upper arms can make you feel self-conscious to have your picture taken and to wear anything that shows them off. Rather than spending this summer hiding your arms because you’re self-conscious, why not take matters into your own hands (or Dr. Weinstein’s hands) and get arm liposuction? During this procedure, Dr. Weinstein will surgically extract the fat in your arms to help give you that slender look that you’ve always wanted. To help you get recovered faster, let’s go over three easy tips to follow.
Don’t Exercise
If you were to keep your hand sedentary during your entire workout, can you imagine how impossible it would be? Even if you were doing a leg workout. This is why we tell all of our patients to avoid any sort of exercise or strenuous activities for at least a couple of weeks after surgery, because it’s impossible to workout without moving your arms. By giving your arms a break, they will have enough time to heal on their own without getting irritated by exercise.
Keep Arms Bandaged
No, bandages and compression sleeves may not be the sexist thing you have ever worn, but they are one of the best things that you can wear while you’re recovering. Why? Because they will help reduce swelling and keep your incision intact while they are healing so that you don’t get an infection.
Clean Your Drain
Depending on how your surgery went, we may place a drain in your arms to help get rid of excess fluid after surgery. Although a drain may be a little bit irritating, it’s important that you keep it in at all times. Additionally, we also tell our patients to make sure that they clean their drain as frequently as possible so that it doesn’t get dirty or grow bacteria.
If you are ready to get sexier, leaner arms, contact Dr. Weinstein at our Chester office today and all us at 908-879-2222.

3 Benefits of Body Contouring With Liposuction
Liposuction has been around for decades, and it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. As one of the most popular and efficient ways to contour your body and get rid of stubborn fat, liposuction continues to give patients real results. If you are a healthy weight and have tried to get rid of stubborn fat without success, then you may be the perfect candidate for liposuction. From lasting results to a better self-esteem, this article will discuss three benefits of body contouring with liposuction. Read on to learn more.
Lasting Results
Unlike extreme dieting where patients gain the weight they lost back in just a week or two, liposuction will give you results that last. Because liposuction involves surgically scraping and then suctioning out the fat from your body, it reduces the number of fat cells you have. And, the smaller number of fat cells you have, the less likely it is that they will grow back. As long as you maintain a relatively strict diet and exercise plan, you shouldn’t gain back any of the fat that was removed during liposuction.
Fast Results
Another strong benefit of liposuction is the fact that you will get almost immediate results. Although you will have some inflammation immediately following the procedure, you will still notice a slimmer you. And once the swelling wears off after a few days, then you will see your results right away.
A Better Self Esteem
Yes, it is true that your self-esteem comes within…at least until you hit bikini season. After all, nothing can put a damper on your self-esteem more than getting into a bikini only to have a big belly, too much fat around your thighs, or love handles. Luckily, with the help of liposuction, you can get rid of that unwanted fat and feel more confident when you hit the pool this summer.
Liposuction continues to be one of the most effective ways of removing stubborn fat from areas such as your buttocks, thighs, abdomen, and arms. If you would like to get rid of your excess fat with liposuction, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein today.

How to Tighten Up Your Tush
With the holidays long behind us and the summer months quickly creeping up on us, it can seem overwhelming to think about getting into a bikini. Have you recently caught a glance of your tush in the mirror and noticed that it’s a bit saggier and jiggly than you’d care to admit? Luckily, you still have a few more months until you have to get into a swimsuit, so you still have time to tighten up your tush. From working out to getting liposuction, this article will discuss a few different ways that you can get a behind that will have all of your friends feeling jealous. Read on to learn more.
Work It Out
One of the best ways that you can tighten your tush is to do exercises to target those muscles. In addition to doing cardio— which will help you lose weight— make sure that you are doing plenty of squats, weighted squats, lunges, leg extensions, and leg presses. If you aren’t sure if you are doing any of these exercises correctly, ask for some instruction from a team member at your local gym— the last thing you want to do is pull a muscle or strain anything.
Eat Correctly
Unfortunately, if you want to get a tighter tush before summer, you are going to have to put down those cookies, soda, and hamburgers, and try eating lean proteins and more veggies. The leaner your diet is, the leaner your physique will be. And, as one of the first parts of your body where you will lose weight, your tush will certainly look slimmer before you know it.
Consider Liposuction
In addition to working out and eating correctly, you may want to consider getting liposuction from Dr. Larry Weinstein. By surgically removing the fat from your tush, you will get results that you otherwise wouldn’t have with just diet and exercise alone. And, because it’s still springtime, you will have plenty of time to recover from surgery before you hit the pool or beach.
It can make you feel a lot of unnecessary pressure to think about having to get into a bikini in just a few months. However, by using a combination of exercise, diet, and liposuction, you can get a tighter tush than ever before. Age Gracefully: The Art of Liposuction
Typically when you think of anti-aging procedures that can be done by Dr. Larry Weinstein, you think of fillers and injectables that are used to get rid of wrinkles around your forehead, eyes, and mouth. And although those procedures are ideal for helping you age gracefully, did you know that liposuction is a procedure that can help you as well? Read on to learn more about how liposuction can help you to age gracefully.
Saddle Bags
Age doesn’t have to play a factor in you getting saddlebags, however, the older you get, the more likely you are to get these on your upper thighs. What are saddlebags exactly? Saddlebags are excess pouches of fat that reside right below your buttocks and near your hip that protrude from the side. And the worst part about saddlebags is that they can show themselves off even when you are wearing pants or a skirt. In order to get rid of these saddlebags, however, Dr. Larry Weinstein can use liposuction to help remove the excess fat pouches around your hip and help give you a slimmer looking appearance. Not only will a slimmer looking you help you to feel sexier but it will also help you to look a bit younger as well.
Abdomen
The older you get, the more likely your body is to store fat around your middle section— especially if you have had kids. And as an unfortunate part of aging, fat retention around your abdomen can make you feel like you’re a lot older than you actually are. Luckily, liposuction can also be used to help you get rid of that excess fat around your abdomen. By scraping away the excess fat and suctioning it out, you can have an abdomen that is more suited to your body shape and size.
Liposuction is a great tool that can be used to help you age a bit more gracefully. If you would like to learn more about liposuction or would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Larry Weinstein, contact our office today!

3 Reasons Why Liposuction Might be Right for You
Liposuction isn’t for everyone. Here are three healthy motivations to decide if plastic surgery is right for you.
1. You are Content with Your Weight
Liposuction is not a cure for obesity. However, if you are content with your weight and just want to reshape your body, liposuction might be right for you.
Remember, liposuction doesn’t change your overall health and can’t make up for poor nutrition or lifestyle choices. Liposuction also isn’t a great idea when recovering from pregnancy or menopause because weight fluctuations are common.
If you’re not just recovering from pregnancy or menopause where great weight fluctuations are common, then liposuction might be a good choice for you!
2. You Have a Healthy Lifestyle and Want to Balance Your Body Proportions
Many people have dramatic weight loss stories, but find that there’s just one last pocket of stubborn body fat that won’t leave. If you have a healthy lifestyle and maintain a constant weight, liposuction can be a good way to get rid of that last stronghold of fatty tissue.
Liposuction is most effective at:
- Sculpting your body shape
- Carving contours
- Creating more pleasant proportions
Liposuction is a tiring surgery, and can hurt for up to a week. Swelling usually diminishes within the first 3 weeks, but you may not fully recovered until up to six months later.
If you already have a lifestyle that keeps you at a consistent weight or body size that you are happy with, but still can’t lose those last few pounds, then liposuction can be a good option for you.
3. Breast Reduction for Men
Gynecomastia is fairly common among men. Enlarged breasts are a natural part of male physiology. Liposuction is one of the simplest and cheapest ways for men to reduce their breasts. As long as they are at a consistent weight and are healthy, a liposuction procedure can permanently reduce their breasts to more acceptable proportions.
If you’re looking to get a liposuction for enlarged male breasts, you should look for a qualified, experienced surgeon. Research their liposuction methods and schedule a consultation to ensure that they are right for you
There are other surgeries that can reduce male breasts, but liposuction is usually the most cost effective. There are more dramatic surgeries, such as breast reduction or liposculpting, that can also work well.
Liposuction is a great option for many people. There are also other cosmetic surgeries that can help you get the body you want. If you still have questions or concerns, call 908-879-2222 to schedule a consultation today and find out what your options are for a healthy liposuction!
