How to Speed Up Neck Lift Recovery
In this day and age, you don’t have to go under the knife to temporarily get rid of fine lines and wrinkles across your face and forehead. With dermal fillers and Botox you can get what is called a liquid facelift which helps you temporarily correct loose and sagging skin on your face without surgery. But, one thing a lot of patients run into is a smooth, youthful complexion and then loose sagging skin on their neck. Luckily, with a surgical neck lift, we can help you tighten the skin on your neck which will give you a more elegant looking neckline. To make sure that you recover as quickly as possible, we have created a list of a few things that you can do.
Don’t Ice
Typically when patients have postoperative inflammation, we encourage them to ice the area. With a neck lift, however, that’s the last thing that you should do. Why? Because it can restrict blood flow and cut off your oxygen supply. Instead, you can take an over-the-counter- nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen.
Keep Your Head Elevated
The good news and bad news about neck lift surgery recovery is that it takes about two weeks for you to fully recover. Although sitting in bed for a long time may make you feel restless, it can also be the perfect excuse to not do anything but watch movies and read all day long. While you are in bed, make sure that you prop your head up so that you are elevated. Keeping your head and neck elevated will help you reduce swelling and it will also help you drain any fluids from your neck. In some instances, we will place a tube from your incisions site to help drain fluid and speed up recovery.
When we send you home from a neck lift surgery, we will make sure that you and whoever is taking care of you has a hard copy of recovery tips and tricks. If you have any questions or concerns at any point during recovery, we are here to help.
