Having a small waist and a small amount of debt are two things you may want to have small of, but having small breasts likely doesn’t make a list. If you have been considering getting a breast augmentation from Dr. Larry Weinstein, you can rest assured that you’ll be in good hands from the consultation appointment all the way through recovery. To help you speed up your recovery time, we have created a brief guide. Read on to learn more.
Take It Easy
One of the best things you can do to speed up the recovery time for your breast augmentation is to take it easy. Remember that the more rest your body gets, the faster it will recover from surgery. Even though you may want to get back into the swing of things right away, it could only slow down your recovery time and even expose you to infection. We encourage our patients to take solid 3-5 days off of work, exercise, and any other tasks. If you have been wanting some time to yourself or to do nothing, here is your opportunity.
Change the Bandages
When you are sent home from your surgery, we will send you with a detailed recovery packet listing how to do things like changing your bandages. Changing out your bandages and washing the incision site are two great ways to protect yourself against harmful bacteria and infection. Remember to always change out your bandages with clean hands and to wash the area with warm water and soap.
Massage the Breasts
Even though it may be a bit painful at first, massaging your breasts while you’re in recovery will help prevent any scar tissue building up. To correctly massage your breasts, try to pull the implant away from your existing breast tissue and then gently massage the breast. Repeat 2-3 times per day.
Recovery is one of the most crucial steps of any surgery— especially a breast augmentation. If you would like to learn more about recovery or to schedule a consultation appointment, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein’s office today!
