What is recovery from a butt lift like?
Have you been considering a buttock lift? This very popular procedure can help you to have the buttocks you want after you have lost a lot of weight or if you’ve always dreamed of having a well-defined and toned derriere but just aren’t seeing the results you’d like after exercising for years. However, it is still a surgical procedure, and there will be some recovery time involved. Read on for what you can expect recovery to be like.
Recovery from your butt lift
Your doctor will, of course, have detailed instructions for you to follow after the procedure, but here are some things to keep in mind:
• You will have to plan on taking time to relax and recover. Take some time off of work, and ask friends and family to help you around the house and run errands.
• Avoid any strenuous exercise for at least 4 weeks. Exercise such as yoga and walking may be all right, although you should check with your doctor to make sure.
• Limit your time sitting. Although this is easier said than done, it is important. You need to avoid putting your weight on your buttocks until the pain and swelling have gone down (and when your doctor gives you the OK to sit again), and even then you should use a soft pillow to sit on. It can take up to a month for the swelling and bruising to subside.
• When you do rest, it is best to lie down. You should sleep on your side or your stomach for the first few weeks after your surgery.
• The surgery is usually an outpatient procedure, although, rarely, patients may need to stay in the hospital overnight.
• Your doctor may recommend that you wear compression garments to help reduce swelling and to make the healing process go faster.

What to expect with buttock and thigh lifts
Aging, pregnancy, weight loss and even sun damage can cause your buttocks and thighs to sag or appear flatter than you’d like. Thankfully, there are plastic surgery procedures that can help improve the contour, size and shape of the behind. Read on to learn more about buttock and outer-thigh lifts and what to expect during surgery.
- A buttock lift and outer-thigh lift can be performed separately or together to help you achieve the look you desire. This improves the shape and tone of the behind.
- Ideal candidates are those who are in good general health, do not smoke and are not significantly overweight. They have excess skin and tissue in their buttocks and outer thighs and have realistic expectations about the outcome of the procedures to address these concerns.
- Buttock and thigh lifts are typically outpatient procedures performed under general anesthesia.
- During a buttock lift, an incision is made across the top of the buttocks from one hip bone to the other. The incision is made so that it can be easily concealed by underwear and bikinis. Dr. Weinstein removes the excess skin and fat and may perform liposuction.
- During an outer-thigh lift, the incision is made in the groin area. Excess skin and fat are removed, and liposuction may be performed.
- After surgery, patients may need to wear compression garments to help with swelling and the healing process.
- Patients may experience swelling, soreness and bruising for up to a month after surgery. Prescription medication can be used to control pain.
- Patients often return to work and their regular activities about two weeks after surgery. They should avoid strenuous activities for at least four weeks.
- After surgery, patients see better tighter, firmer contours and tighter, smoother skin.
- Unless there is significant weight loss or weight gain, patients can expect results to be long lasting.
A buttock lift and outer-thigh lift can help you achieve the youthful contours you desire. To learn more, schedule a consultation with Dr. Weinstein by calling (908) 879-2222.

7 things you need to know about buttock and outer-thigh lifts
Aging, significant weight loss, and even genetics can cause the buttocks and thighs to sag. Often a healthy diet and exercise program can’t tighten, firm and contour this area as well as lift procedures. Here are seven things you should know about buttock and outer-thigh lifts.
Ideal candidates are in good health. You should also avoid smoking and have realistic expectations about outcomes from the procedure.
A buttock lift and outer-thigh lift are often performed together. Although the procedures can be done separately, patients often find the buttocks and thighs have the same issues.
The incisions are made in places that scars can be easily hidden. The buttock lift incision is made across the top of the buttocks from one hip bone to the other, low enough to be concealed by underwear or a bikini. For the outer-thigh lift, the incision is made in the groin area. Though they will be visible, the scars will fade over time.
Liposuction may be performed. During the procedures, excess skin and fat are removed. Support sutures are placed deep within the underlying tissue, while skin is then redraped around the new contours. Incisions are closed with sutures. Patients are usually required to wear compression garments to reduce swelling and speed up the healing process.
The lift procedures are typically performed on an outpatient basis. The lift is done under general anesthesia. Most patients can leave after the effects of the anesthesia have worn off, while some patients may have to stay overnight.
Swelling, soreness and bruising can last for up to a month. This is typical for recovery, but pain can be controlled with medication. Most people can return to work and regular, non-strenuous activities after about two weeks, but must avoid strenuous activities for four weeks or longer.
They are not weight-loss procedures. This is performed only on those who are not significantly overweight. After the procedures, the buttocks and outer thighs have trimmer contours, and the skin is tighter and smoother. Surgical results are long-lasting.
If you want to learn more about buttock and outer-thigh lifts to improve the contour of your lower body and give it a more youthful appearance, call our office at (908) 879-2222 to schedule a consultation with Dr. Weinstein.

How to Stay Comfortable After a Butt Lift
With spring break just around the corner, you may get nervous just thinking about having to squeeze into a bikini or swimsuit in front of people. Rather than spending your beach vacation hiding under a big blanket, show off your hard-earned body this year after you get a butt lift from Dr. Larry Weinstein. During this surgical procedure, Dr. Weinstein will tighten, firm, and contour the buttocks giving you something to strut about while you’re walking on the beach. To make sure that your recovery goes as well as possible, let’s take a closer look at some ways that you can stay more comfortable while you rest and recover.
Wear Compression Underwear
No, they may not be the sexiest things on the planet, but compression underwear will help speed up your recovery and make you feel better as well. Compression underwear is designed to hug your buttocks which helps to keep your incisions in place and ease swelling as well; both of which will help you stay more comfortable.
Sleep On Your Side
The number one way for you to stay comfortable while you’re recovering from a butt lift is to sleep on your side. If you are a back sleeper, this may be harder for you to do but by taking the pressure off of your buttocks, you won’t feel in as much pain or discomfort. For additional support, you can always place a pillow in between your legs as you sleep as well; this will help align your back.
Take It Easy
On average, you can return back to your normal activities after about two weeks. Until that two week period, though, make sure that you really take it easy. The more you push yourself physically, the more likely you are to get hurt or get an infection. Use this time to catch up on TV shows, movies, or read a few good books.
To make sure that you recover as comfortably as possible, use the tips listed in this article. To learn more about a butt lift, contact us at our Chester office today and call us at 908-879-2222.
