The R’s of the Filler World: Restylane Vs. Radiesse

facial fillersWhen it comes to dermal fillers, there are a variety of different options for you to choose from. Derived from the same concept of filling in the fine lines and wrinkles on your face, however, what is the difference between fillers? As two of the most popular fillers that Dr. Larry Weinstein offers, both Restylane and Radiesse provide unique benefits to help you look and feel younger. Read on to learn more.

Restylane
As a substance that is naturally found in the body, hyaluronic acid is something that is replicated in dermal fillers such as Restylane. By adding collagen and elasticity to your skin, hyaluronic acid is something that fades as you age. Luckily, with dermal fillers like Restylane, you can help to give your body back its collagen and elasticity to give you a more youthful-looking glow. By injecting Restylane directly into the fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth and nose, you can get rid of smile lines and help restore elasticity to your face.

Radiesse
Composed of calcium hydroxylapatite, Radiesse is a filler that is injected below the surface of the skin. By adding immediate volume to your skin, you can leave Dr. Weinstein’s office with results that are worth showing off to your friends and family. Radiesse is primarily used to treat nasolabial folds and fill in the cheeks and around the mouth. As one of the best benefits of all, Radiesse can last a year or longer depending on the patient and their skin type.

The great thing about both Restylane and Radiesse is that they are both FDA approved— meaning that you have nothing to worry about in regards to your health and safety. And, as two fillers that are each unique and useful in their ways, you can rest assured that you are going to get the best results possible. If you would like to schedule an appointment to get one of these fillers or if you would simply like to learn more, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein today!

ScarFace No More: The Art of ScarFix

ScarFix Scars may be something that are cool to show off to your friends on the playground when you’re 8 years old or if you’re a character out of a novel like Frankenstein, however, if you are just an average adult, and you have scars, then you are likely going to want to do everything that you can in order to help minimize the appearance of scars. Although there are topical over-the-counter creams that claim to help get rid of the appearance of scars, nothing will be quite as effective as a state-of-the-art scar treatment like the one that Dr. Larry Weinstein created: ScarFix. Read on to learn more.

What is a Scar?
Before you learn about what ScarFix is, it’s important for you to understand what a scar is and the difference between different types of scars. A scar is an area of the skin where a burn, wound, or sore has not yet healed properly. There are a few different types of scars including hypertrophic scars, keloids, and contractures.

  • Hypertrophic Scars: These types of scars are typically raised, reddened, hyperpigmented, and can even be uncomfortable.
  • Keloids: These scars are larger hypertrophic scars that can cause irritation due to itchiness and inflammation.
  • Contractures: These types of scars are so damaging that they can restrict your movement due to the severity of scarring underneath the skin.

What is ScarFix?
ScarFix involves a multi-step procedure to help get rid of the scar itself. By cleaning the wound and removing any bacteria or contaminants that may have built up, your wound has a better chance to heal. Once it is cleaned, the removal of the edges of the wound will be removed by using an atraumatic technique which will help to create less trauma to the tissue, which equates to less scarring further down the line.

Let’s face it, getting your scar removed by the inventor himself is pretty amazing— plus, you’ll know that you are in the best hands possible. If you would like to learn more about ScarFix or other scar revision treatment options, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein’s office today!

Not Just For Women: The Benefits of Facial Fillers for Men

botox-for-menStereotypically, when you think of dermal fillers you typically think of a middle aged woman getting the wrinkles on her face filled in and maybe even her lips being plumped up. And although this might be an accurate assumption most of the time, fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are also gaining popularity among men— but why? From helping to restore youth to aiding in self esteem, this article will discuss a few of the reasons men are flocking to Larry Weinstein in order to get fillers.

Restore Youthfulness
Unless you sport a full, heavy beard all year round, you will start to notice wrinkles developing around your mouth and even on your chin. And although aging itself can be considered to be a beautiful process, these signs of aging can be a bit more frustrating than anything. Not only can chin wrinkles make things like shaving to be a bit more difficult, they can age you in a way that you aren’t quite ready to accept. Luckily, by getting either Restylane or Juvederm injections from Dr. Larry Weinstein, you can help to restore your youthful glow and leave the hassle of shaving behind.

Aid in Self-Esteem
Just like women, men suffer from self-esteem issues as well. And although men aren’t as open about their self esteem, it doesn’t mean that issues aren’t there. If you are a male who is having a hard time accepting the aging process and are noticing that your self-esteem isn’t as high as it once was before yous tarted to show physical signs of aging, then you may want to consider temporary fillers. Although fillers and any sort of plastic surgery aren’t designed to provide patients with happiness or confidence, they certainly can help give your self-esteem the boost that it needs in order to get you feeling like your normal self once again.

Getting fillers isn’t just popular among women— in fact, it’s gaining popularity among the male crowd as well. If you are a male who has been noticing signs of aging that you aren’t ready to face, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein’s office today to schedule a consultation.

Leave the Turkey to Thanksgiving: The Art of Jowl Removal

Jowl RemovalAs you age, the looser your skin gets. And unfortunately, parts of your body start to lose elasticity and you start to look a bit older than you might feel. Not only can areas of your body such as your breasts and buttocks start to sag a little, but areas around your face— especially your neck start to lose elasticity and leave you looking more like your favorite Thanksgiving bird than you care to admit. Luckily, Dr. Larry Weinstein specializes in a variety of plastic surgeries— including jowl removal— that are designed to help get rid of the unwanted fat and skin around your neck and help you to look and feel like your younger self once again. But what exactly is jowl removal surgery? Read on to learn more.

What is a jowl lift?
As you age, the area under your chin and around the upper part of your neck starts to lose elasticity and gather a bit of fat— leaving you with a more enhanced looking jowl line. During a jowl lift, Dr. Larry Weinstein works to not only emit that fat that has built up but to also lift that extra skin that has lost elasticity in order to give you a smoother and more youthful looking appearance.

What is recovery like?
Before you consider getting a jowl lift, it’s important to understand what you can expect from the recovery process. Recovery from a jowl lift requires at least a few weeks and will also require that you get the proper amount of rest afterwards. As your body works to heal from this major surgery, it’s important that you don’t participate in any sort of strenuous activity, as this could exacerbate the surgical area and cause infection.

What results can I expect?
Unfortunately, no surgery can yet permanently stop the signs and effects of aging. However, by getting a jowl lift you can help to minimize the aging results and slow down the aging process. Although a jowl lift isn’t permanent, it will allow you to look and feel younger for a longer period of time.

If you have noticed that you are bothered by the excess fat and skin around your jowl line, contact Larry Weinstein’s office today to set up a consultation— you won’t regret it!

Jowl Lift Vs. Neck Lift Understanding the Difference

Jowl LiftWith Thanksgiving quickly sneaking up on us, the last thing you are going to want to resemble when you look into the mirror is a turkey. As you start to age, your skin starts to lose elasticity in some places and gain fat in others, leaving you looking less like yourself. Luckily, with teh advancements of surgical treatments and technologies, you can help to lift and tighten areas around your neck and face in order to look more youthful. Specifically, with either a neck or jowl lift, you can help to get rid of that excess skin and fat around your neck and lower portion of your face in virtually no time at all. However, as two treatments that are so close together anatomically, it can be hard to differentiate between the two. Read on to learn more about the distinguishing differences between a jowl lift and a neck lift.

Jowl Lift
The area that is under your chin and right above your neck is called your jowl line. As you age, this area starts to accumulate a bit more fat and lose a bit of elasticity as well— leaving you, unfortunately, looking more like a Thanksgiving bird than you’d care to admit. Luckily, with a jowl lift, Dr. Larry Weinstein can help to remove the excess fat and skin in order to tighten up your jowl line and give you back a more chiselled looking facial structure.

Neck Lift
Another unfortunate part of aging is the fact that your neck will start to lose elasticity and will start to wrinkle. And, even if you choose to get fillers and injections in your face that will make you look younger, have a wrinkled neck will quickly give away your age. Luckily, with a neck lift, small incisions will be made near your chin in order to lift and tighten that skin that is starting to sag and lose elasticity. As an easy way to think of it, when thinking of a neck lift, just think of a face lift but for your neck.

If you have lost the elasticity either around your neck or jowl line, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein to schedule a consultation.

Age Gracefully: The Art of Liposuction

liposuctionTypically when you think of anti-aging procedures that can be done by Dr. Larry Weinstein, you think of fillers and injectables that are used to get rid of wrinkles around your forehead, eyes, and mouth. And although those procedures are ideal for helping you age gracefully, did you know that liposuction is a procedure that can help you as well? Read on to learn more about how liposuction can help you to age gracefully.

Saddle Bags
Age doesn’t have to play a factor in you getting saddlebags, however, the older you get, the more likely you are to get these on your upper thighs. What are saddlebags exactly? Saddlebags are excess pouches of fat that reside right below your buttocks and near your hip that protrude from the side. And the worst part about saddlebags is that they can show themselves off even when you are wearing pants or a skirt. In order to get rid of these saddlebags, however, Dr. Larry Weinstein can use liposuction to help remove the excess fat pouches around your hip and help give you a slimmer looking appearance. Not only will a slimmer looking you help you to feel sexier but it will also help you to look a bit younger as well.

Abdomen
The older you get, the more likely your body is to store fat around your middle section— especially if you have had kids. And as an unfortunate part of aging, fat retention around your abdomen can make you feel like you’re a lot older than you actually are. Luckily, liposuction can also be used to help you get rid of that excess fat around your abdomen. By scraping away the excess fat and suctioning it out, you can have an abdomen that is more suited to your body shape and size.

Liposuction is a great tool that can be used to help you age a bit more gracefully. If you would like to learn more about liposuction or would like to schedule an appointment with Dr. Larry Weinstein, contact our office today!

The 411 on Reconstructive Breast Surgery

Reconstructive Breast SurgeryUndergoing a mastectomy in order to rid your breasts and your body of cancerous cells and tissues is a life altering decision. And although this life altering decision can and likely will save your life, it can leave you as a woman feeling a bit deflated both physically and emotionally. If you have recently undergone a mastectomy and your breasts are either completely gone or they are crooked then you may want to consider getting breast reconstructive surgery done by Dr. Larry Weinstein. Read on to learn more about this life changing and restorative procedure.

Are You a Good Candidate?
Most women who have undergone either a mastectomy or a double mastectomy are going to be considered a good candidate for reconstructive breast surgery. During a mastectomy, although the surgeon will want to try to maintain as much of the breast as possible, the main goal is to get rid of any and all cancerous cells and tissues in the breast, oftentimes leaving women with less than ideal breasts afterwards. Simply schedule a consultation with Dr. Larry Weinstein in order to determine what can be done for your breasts.

What Are Your Options?
The great thing about reconstructive breast surgery is that there are several options for you to choose from including the following:

Breast Implant: One of the more popular things to get when getting reconstructive breast surgery is implants in both breasts— this will help to give you symmetrical breasts that are full and have the shape that you desire.

  • TRAM Flap Surgery: Another option that you can choose is TRAM flap surgery that uses extra skin and muscle from your abdominal region in order to reconstruct your breasts without the use of a breast implant.
  • Latissimus Flap Surgery: Just like TRAM surgery, Latissimus surgery uses excess skin and muscle from your body in order to reconstruct your breasts without an implant. However, this surgery uses the area of your skin along the back of your arm and back.

The Truth Behind Nipple Sensation After Breast Augmentation Surgery

breast augmentation surgeryIf you have either just undergone breast augmentation surgery or if you have it scheduled, then you will want to know all that you can expect from this type of procedure— including the good, the bad, and the ugly. As one of the things that many patients complain from, the loss of nipple sensitivity can be something that concerns patients that may even inhibit them from undergoing any type of augmentation in the first place. As a sensation that is sexually stimulation, having nipple sensation is something that you don’t want to mess with. Read on to learn more about what you can expect in regards to nipple sensation after breast augmentation surgery.

Will It Last?
Right after you undergo breast augmentation surgery, there are many things regarding your breasts that won’t feel normal— including your nipple sensation. Not only will your breasts be sore and tender to the touch, but also your nipple sensation may either be extremely prominent (almost painful) or it may feel non-existent. Although you may be worried about both of those scenarios, they are both extremely common and your nipple sensation should return after just a few weeks and after your breasts have had the ample time needed in order to heal properly.

There are some very rare cases, however, in which patients lose all their feeling in their nipples when a nerve is hit during the surgery. But because this type of scenario is very rare, it really is nothing to worry about.

Will It Hurt?
As mentioned above, right after you undergo breast augmentation surgery, it is very normal for your breasts to be sore and tender to the touch, even your nipples. And although it may sound unfortunate, your nipples themselves may be a bit tender or painful after surgery but it will quickly subside as your breasts begin to heal properly.

Injectables VS. Fillers: How to Differentiate Between the Two

BotoxIf you are out talking with friends and they are getting the terms “injectables” and “fillers” mixed up with each other, it is not something that is uncommon. If you yourself aren’t familiar with the distinctions between these two, then you are not alone. Because fillers are in fact injected into your skin, they could easily be perceived as being “injectables” but since injectables don’t actual fill in the skin, the same can’t be same for them. In order to be better informed and to know which thing you should seriously consider, read on.

Injectables
Things like Botox and Xeomin are two of the most popular injectables on the plastic/cosmetic surgery market. Often mistaken for “fillers” injectables actually don’t work by filling in the lines and wrinkles around your face. In fact, injectables like Botox and Xeomin are comprised of different types of botulinum which when injected into the muscles in your face— primarily the forehead and eyes— they cause the muscles to relax and soften, which in turn gives you the temporary appearance of having no lines or wrinkles. Typically lasting around three to six months, depending on the patient, injectables are both affordable and effective.

Fillers
Fillers are what most people refer to injectables as. However, they work completely different. Fillers are usually used on the face from the nose down in order to literally fill in the fine lines and wrinkles you may be experiencing due to old age or other factors. By taking a syringe filled with fillers like Restylane or Juvederm, Dr. Larry Weinstein can literally fill in your wrinkles and give you a more youthful looking appearance. Also temporary, fillers tend to last a bit longer than injectables— up to  a year in some instances.

The next time you’re having a conversation with your girlfriends about getting injectables or fillers, come to the table a little bit more informed by using the information above. If you would like to schedule an appointment to get either fillers, injectables, or both, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein’s office today!

How to Dress Your Breasts for Success

breast surgeryWhen it comes to undergoing breast enhancement surgery, nothing can feel quite as exciting as turning your body into something you’ve always wanted. Larger breasts can not only make you feel more confident but help you get the look that you’ve always wanted. And although getting larger and perkier breasts may encourage you to dress a bit sexier, it’s important to remember to maintain appropriate dress codes while at work or in a more conservative setting. Read on to learn more about how you can cater your wardrobe to your new breasts.

Watch for Low-Cut Blouses
Yes, showing a little bit of cleavage might be fun for a weekend night or a day out with friends. However, when in the workplace or somewhere like church, it’s important to dress a little more modestly and not show any cleavage. Although you might be tempted to show off your new assets, remember that there is both a time and place for that, and showing cleavage in the workplace is not appropriate.

Watch for Tight Fitting Clothes
Remember that a shirt that fit you tightly around your chest prior to surgery is going to fit you even more snugly around your chest after surgery. Not only can extremely form fitting clothing be uncomfortable but it can also be inappropriate for the workplace as well. As a suggestion, get rid of your form fitting tops before you have surgery and buy ones that fit a little more conservatively, that way you won’t be tempted to wear them after your surgical procedure.

Get the Right Fitting Bra
In addition to avoiding low-cut blouses and tight fitting tops, it’s also important to purchase a bra that fits you well. For instance, if your breasts are practically falling out of your bra then they will likely be falling out of your shirt which can cause for an uproar in the office. Additionally, if your bra is too small or too sheer, you may be exposing more of your new breasts than you care to share. Go bra shopping around a month after your surgery— once the swelling has died down— in order to get a bra that will fit you comfortably.

Getting breast enhancement surgery can make you look and feel like a new woman. However, it’s important to maintain a professional appearance while in the workplace or in a conservative setting like church. By following the tips above, you shouldn’t have  problem.
