How to Speed Up Your Breast Augmentation Recovery

Breast Augmentation Chester, New JerseyHaving a small waist and a small amount of debt are two things you may want to have small of, but having small breasts likely doesn’t make a list. If you have been considering getting a breast augmentation from Dr. Larry Weinstein, you can rest assured that you’ll be in good hands from the consultation appointment all the way through recovery. To help you speed up your recovery time, we have created a brief guide. Read on to learn more.

Take It Easy

One of the best things you can do to speed up the recovery time for your breast augmentation is to take it easy. Remember that the more rest your body gets, the faster it will recover from surgery. Even though you may want to get back into the swing of things right away, it could only slow down your recovery time and even expose you to infection. We encourage our patients to take solid 3-5 days off of work, exercise, and any other tasks. If you have been wanting some time to yourself or to do nothing, here is your opportunity.

Change the Bandages

When you are sent home from your surgery, we will send you with a detailed recovery packet listing how to do things like changing your bandages. Changing out your bandages and washing the incision site are two great ways to protect yourself against harmful bacteria and infection. Remember to always change out your bandages with clean hands and to wash the area with warm water and soap.

Massage the Breasts

Even though it may be a bit painful at first, massaging your breasts while you’re in recovery will help prevent any scar tissue building up. To correctly massage your breasts, try to pull the implant away from your existing breast tissue and then gently massage the breast. Repeat 2-3 times per day.

Recovery is one of the most crucial steps of any surgery— especially a breast augmentation. If you would like to learn more about recovery or to schedule a consultation appointment, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein’s office today!

3 Things to Consider When Getting a Breast Augmentation

Breast AugmentationBeing called “flat chested” isn’t exactly a term that most girls like to be known for. However, if you fall into this category and are wanting to make a change, consider getting a breast augmentation done by Dr. Larry Weinstein. During this surgery, Dr. Weinstein will surgically place implants under or on top of your existing breast muscles to give you a more prominent look. During this surgery, however, you do have a few options to consider getting done in conjunction with a breast augmentation. Read on to learn more.

Tissue Expansion

If you are particularly petite, then Dr. Larry Weinstein may recommend that we do a tissue expansion surgery before your breast augmentation. This procedure is done to help loosen and expand the skin around the breasts so that the implants will be sufficiently covered. By placing a small balloon in your breasts and slowly inflating it over a few months, your skin tissue will expand— leaving you with fewer stretchmarks and more coverage over your implants.

Breast Lift

This type of surgery can be done at the same time as your augmentation. If you have noticed that your breasts don’t sit as high on your chest as they used to, Dr. Larry Weinstein can perform a breast lift to lift and tighten them. By getting rid of excess skin and lifting your breasts higher, you will look more youthful.

Nipple Reduction

If you have large, droopy, or long nipples that make you feel extremely self-conscious, Dr. Larry Weinstein may be able to perform a “nipple reduction surgery” at the same time as your augmentation. During this surgery, your nipple will be cut, so that is decreased in size and shape.

Before you get a breast augmentation done, it’s nice to know that you have a few other surgeries you can do in conjunction with it. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, contact Dr. Larry Weinstein today!

The Truth Behind Nipple Sensation After Breast Augmentation Surgery

breast augmentation surgeryIf you have either just undergone breast augmentation surgery or if you have it scheduled, then you will want to know all that you can expect from this type of procedure— including the good, the bad, and the ugly. As one of the things that many patients complain from, the loss of nipple sensitivity can be something that concerns patients that may even inhibit them from undergoing any type of augmentation in the first place. As a sensation that is sexually stimulation, having nipple sensation is something that you don’t want to mess with. Read on to learn more about what you can expect in regards to nipple sensation after breast augmentation surgery.

Will It Last?
Right after you undergo breast augmentation surgery, there are many things regarding your breasts that won’t feel normal— including your nipple sensation. Not only will your breasts be sore and tender to the touch, but also your nipple sensation may either be extremely prominent (almost painful) or it may feel non-existent. Although you may be worried about both of those scenarios, they are both extremely common and your nipple sensation should return after just a few weeks and after your breasts have had the ample time needed in order to heal properly.

There are some very rare cases, however, in which patients lose all their feeling in their nipples when a nerve is hit during the surgery. But because this type of scenario is very rare, it really is nothing to worry about.

Will It Hurt?
As mentioned above, right after you undergo breast augmentation surgery, it is very normal for your breasts to be sore and tender to the touch, even your nipples. And although it may sound unfortunate, your nipples themselves may be a bit tender or painful after surgery but it will quickly subside as your breasts begin to heal properly.

How to Dress Your Breasts for Success

breast surgeryWhen it comes to undergoing breast enhancement surgery, nothing can feel quite as exciting as turning your body into something you’ve always wanted. Larger breasts can not only make you feel more confident but help you get the look that you’ve always wanted. And although getting larger and perkier breasts may encourage you to dress a bit sexier, it’s important to remember to maintain appropriate dress codes while at work or in a more conservative setting. Read on to learn more about how you can cater your wardrobe to your new breasts.

Watch for Low-Cut Blouses
Yes, showing a little bit of cleavage might be fun for a weekend night or a day out with friends. However, when in the workplace or somewhere like church, it’s important to dress a little more modestly and not show any cleavage. Although you might be tempted to show off your new assets, remember that there is both a time and place for that, and showing cleavage in the workplace is not appropriate.

Watch for Tight Fitting Clothes
Remember that a shirt that fit you tightly around your chest prior to surgery is going to fit you even more snugly around your chest after surgery. Not only can extremely form fitting clothing be uncomfortable but it can also be inappropriate for the workplace as well. As a suggestion, get rid of your form fitting tops before you have surgery and buy ones that fit a little more conservatively, that way you won’t be tempted to wear them after your surgical procedure.

Get the Right Fitting Bra
In addition to avoiding low-cut blouses and tight fitting tops, it’s also important to purchase a bra that fits you well. For instance, if your breasts are practically falling out of your bra then they will likely be falling out of your shirt which can cause for an uproar in the office. Additionally, if your bra is too small or too sheer, you may be exposing more of your new breasts than you care to share. Go bra shopping around a month after your surgery— once the swelling has died down— in order to get a bra that will fit you comfortably.

Getting breast enhancement surgery can make you look and feel like a new woman. However, it’s important to maintain a professional appearance while in the workplace or in a conservative setting like church. By following the tips above, you shouldn’t have  problem. 3 Benefits Proportional Breast Augmentation

breast augmentationTypically when people think of a woman getting breast augmentation surgery, imagery of a woman with a tiny frame tipping over due to oversized breasts often comes to mind. And although you can opt to get breasts that are fairly large for your frame, Dr. Larry Weinstein believes in the fact that more isn’t always more and relies heavily on the notion of proportional breast augmentation. Read on to learn more.

  • It’s More Natural

Not everyone wants breast implants that are noticeable. In fact, a large majority of women want to get breast implants that look more natural. Rather than jumping from an A cup to a D cup, Dr. Larry Weinstein’s proportional breast augmentation approach will jump you from an A cup to something more subtle like a B cup. Additionally, more natural looking breasts will give you the confidence that you desire to have perky and full breasts in a swimsuit without being the talk of the town for getting large breasts.

  • It’s More Comfortable

Jumping from a small sized breast to a larger one can and will likely make you feel sexier. However, research shows that women with larger breasts often suffer from things like back pain due to the extra weight and stress than large breasts can place on your body. As another reason to consider proportional breast augmentation, comfortability is a benefit that will last you a lifetime. Additionally, if you enjoy living a more active lifestyle, having breasts that are more proportional to your body will help you to enjoy your workouts without any added back strain or pain.

  • It’s More Suitable

If you naturally have a full C cup, then jumping to a D cup won’t seem like that big of a leap. However, if you naturally have a nearly A cup, then jumping to a D cup will be a very large leap that might not necessarily be suited to your body type. If you want to have breasts that are just a little fuller and perkier in a swimsuit or a tight dress, then getting a proportional breast augmentation done will be more suited to your body shape and size.

As you can see, there are several benefits of getting a proportional breast augmentation done. To learn more or to schedule an appointment with Dr. Larry Weinstein, contact our office today and one of our experts will gladly assist you.

Plastic Surgery Trends 2013: Silicone Breast Implants Becoming More Popular

Plastic surgery trends 2013 Silicon breast implants becoming more popularA recent report in The Wall Street Journal revealed that the use of silicone in breast augmentation has grown exponentially over the years since its re-approval by the FDA 6 years ago. In 2012, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery reported that 72 percent of all breast augmentation cases in the country employed silicone implants. For residents of New Jersey and New York Metro area, Dr. Larry Weinstein is their trusted New Jersey breast augmentation surgeon using silicone implants.

New Silicone Implant Approved
As of February 20, 2013, the Natrelle 410 Highly Cohesive Anatomically Shaped Silicone-Gel Filled Breast Implant is officially approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for breast augmentation and reconstruction. Natrelle, the 4th silicone implant approved by FDA, is currently manufactured by Allergan, Inc.

According to its manufacturer, the Natrelle implants contain more cross-linking (more bonds linking one silicone chain to the other) than its earlier counterparts, thus making the newly-approved implant firmer. The FDA approval was a result of a series of studies for 7 years which looked at 941 women using Natrelle 410 implants.

Significant Improvement Over the Years
The report further stated that the implants are very useful in breast reconstructions surgeries, particularly following a single-side mastectomy when there is a need to match the original shape of the patient’s remaining breast tissues.

Your Breast Augmentation Scarring Guide

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery revealed that breast augmentation owns the top spot amongst the top cosmetic surgeries for women in 2011. This should not be a surprise as more and more women these days are opening their selves to the idea of highlighting their assets via cosmetic surgery.

The latest technological advancements in the aforementioned field has also convinced these women that going under the knife is not scary at all. There are various reasons why these women choose to have a New York breast augmentation surgery with Dr. Larry Weinstein. However, these ladies would often ask, will there be scarring?

Very Minimal Scarring with Dr. Weinstein

Any skin incision will cause scarring of some type. However, highly experienced surgeons such as Dr. Weinstein will always attempt to make the stitching as neat and small as possible to avoid scarring. Before the surgery, you may be shown photos of Dr. Weinstein’s previous works to guarantee that there will be very minimal appearance of scars.

Keloid vs. Hypertrophic Scars

A bright pink scar may appear a few days after the surgery. Severe scarring may occur in two forms – keloid and hypertrophic scars. The former occurs when the scar appears red, raised and extends beyond the region of the original incision. A keloid scar is often the result of too much collagen production during the healing phase. On the other hand, a hypertrophic scar often confines itself within the site of incision.

Post-Surgical Instructions

Unwanted scarring could be prevented by carefully following post-surgical instructions provided by Dr. Weinstein. A combination of factors such as genetics, overall health and current medical conditions could influence the formation of scarring. You should also try to avoid smoking after a breast augmentation procedure as it could reduce the body’s ability to heal quickly and properly.

You might also want to apply sunscreen to greatly diminish the likelihood of scarring as well as avoid further damage. Although the breast area may not be that exposed to the sun, this instruction is still valuable come summertime.
